The North American Red Squirrels (Tamiasciurus hudsonicus) is usually an extremely common squirrel in THE UNITED STATES.  It will not be confusing with the Western european Red Squirrels which is the most frequent Eurasian squirrels.

North American Red Squirrels are placed in most areas of the usa where conifers are routine. Inside the southern Rockies there exists a subspecies that's often refered to since the Spruce Squirrel. It isn't practically as red because the squirrels found further north.
