The North American Red Squirrels (Tamiasciurus hudsonicus) is an extremely common squirrel in THE UNITED STATES.  It will not be confusing with the Western european Red Squirrels which can be probably the most frequent Eurasian squirrels.

North American Red Squirrels can be found generally in most aspects of the united states where conifers are routine. Inside the southern Rockies you will find there's subspecies that is often refered to because Spruce Squirrel. It isn't practically as red because the squirrels found further north.
