The North American Red Squirrels (Tamiasciurus hudsonicus) can be an extremely common squirrel in THE UNITED STATES.  It are not confusing with the Western european Red Squirrels that is one of the most frequent Eurasian squirrels.

North American Red Squirrels are located generally in most regions of the usa where conifers are routine. Inside the southern Rockies there is a subspecies which is often refered to because Spruce Squirrel. It isn't practically as red because the squirrels found further north. Actually, the squirrel outlined on this site would likely be a Spruce Squirrel (it turned out filmed at 10,000 legs in the mountains near Fairplay, Colorado).
