The North American Red Squirrels (Tamiasciurus hudsonicus) is an extremely common squirrel in THE UNITED STATES.  It will never be confusing using the Western european Red Squirrels that's one of the most frequent Eurasian squirrels.

North American Red Squirrels are placed for most areas of the united states where conifers are routine.
